Effective vibration suppression for home appliances.

High-Performance Vibration Dampers

These vibration dampers effectively suppress the vibrations of home appliances that use compressors, such as refrigerators, air conditioners and washing machines.

High-Performance Vibration Dampers
  • Suppressing Compressor Vibration in Refrigerators, Air Conditioners, Etc.

Refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines and other equipment contain compressors that cause large vibrations when operated. High-performance vibration dampers are essential for suppressing this type of vibration, to maintain product performance, and to prevent vibrations from affecting our living environments. Also, because these kinds of products often spend days in transport before reaching the customer’s location, they must be durable enough to withstand extreme vibration. By applying a wide range of materials based on a wealth of vibration-resistant research and advanced analytical simulations accumulated over the years, Yamauchi has produced optimal vibration-resistant rubber designs, and offers high-quality parts that are backed by thorough quality control, all the way from the manufacturing stage to the inspection process.

Tuning in 5-Degree Steps for Versatile Hardness Control.

By controlling the hardness of the rubber materials, vibration-resistant dampers and insulators can effectively suppress vibration. Yamauchi sets the hardness in fine 5-degree steps across a wide hardness range of 3 to 60 (A). When selecting materials, the resonance point can be freely controlled, so even after the component shape has been decided and the mold has been produced, tuning is still applicable to adjust to the ideal characteristics.

Dynamic Viscoelasticity (tan δ) Grading Across the Wide Range of 0.1 to 0.8.

Inverter controlled compressors do not have a fixed number of revolutions, so vibration occurs at a wide range of frequencies. In response to demands for suppressing vibration over the entire range, Yamauchi grades materials across a wide dynamic viscoelasticity range (tan δ) of 0.1 to 0.8. This wide frequency range effectively suppresses the vibration magnification.
  • Thermoset rubber has excellent compression strain characteristics for high reliability.
  • Excellent weather resistance ensures no ozone cracks under conditions of 40°C/50 pphm x 72 hours.
  • Environmentally friendly: RoHS Directive compliant.
  • Thermoset rubber enables complicated shapes.

Yamauchi Uses Two Methods to Isolate Vibration.

Shifting the Resonance Point

Resonance at specific frequency ranges can be avoided by changing the rubber hardness. For example, as seen in the graph #1, the resonance point can be lowered by decreasing the rubber hardness. Yamauchi uses advanced know-how to achieve flexible control by employing fine hardness settings with 5-degree steps across the wide hardness range of 3 to 60 (A).

Reducing Vibration Transmission

Resonance can be suppressed by changing the rubber’s dynamic viscoelasticity. The graph #2 is an image showing the effect of lowering the resonance magnification using a material with a high tan δ value (a high loss coefficient and low elasticity). Yamauchi responds to diverse demands by grading materials across a wide dynamic viscoelasticity range (tan δ) of 0.1 to 0.8.
